More than nine million Dutch people have an Android smartphone.

But no one knows that they unwillingly share a huge amount of information with Google on a daily basis.
About Android
Tracked 24/7
Google, for example, tracks how you move, who you call, which apps you open, and where you are, even when your phone is lying unused while charging.
There's no escape
Virtually every Android smartphone comes pre-installed with 'Google Play Services,' a bundle of processes that silently runs in the background and cannot be turned off or uninstalled.
Secret data collection
Even if you set all the settings on your phone to be privacy-friendly, invisible Android processes ensure that a large amount of information about your smartphone usage still ends up with Google.
Google knows who you are
Google possesses so much information about you as an Android user that your identity can easily be linked to everything you do on your phone. There's nothing you can do about it.

Stop the tracking and claim compensation

Dutch and European privacy rules designed to protect consumers have been ignored by Google for years. Therefore, we have initiated a lawsuit on behalf of all Dutch Android users, in which we demand, among other things:

Google must stop tracking users
Google continuously monitors what you do and when on your Android smartphone. They try to ensure that you share as much information with the company as possible. Much more information than is necessary for normal use of your Android device. We demand an end to these tracking practices in court. You should regain control over what you share with Google.
Google must be transparent
Google makes its privacy policy and settings, if they exist at all, unnecessarily complicated. Google hides settings deep in its menus and doesn't tell you why, how, and when it uses your data. We demand transparency from Google about how it uses your data.
Google must compensate your damages
Much of the data that ends up at Google via your Android smartphone should never have been collected. That is why we demand compensation on behalf of all Dutch Android users.

About us

The Massaschade & Consument Foundation

The Massaschade & Consument Foundation is an independent non-profit organization that advocates for consumer rights in cases of mass damages. Among other things, we aim to put an end to the way foreign tech giants disregard the privacy rules applicable here.

The foundation was established in 2021 and, in addition to the lawsuit against Google, also conducts collective actions against TikTok and Airbnb. Collective actions can be a solution if you do not have the money or expertise to start a case against a large company yourself.

Users should have control over what they share with companies like Google. Their data is private, but worth a lot of money to Google. Therefore, the foundation demands compensation for the period during which Google unlawfully obtained data from millions of Dutch persons.

The SMC board also consists of Huub de Jong, who is involved in the TikTok case. Simone van der Hof is involved in the TikTok case as a member of the supervisory board.

Research shows that Google collects highly detailed data from Android users. Google knows which apps are used, when and how they are used, and much more about users' personal lives. We believe that Google has violated laws and regulations with this collection and processing of personal data from Android users, and we want these unlawful activities to stop.

End the hidden data collection on your Android smartphone!
